In May of 2003, digitization
of historical photographs held by the Kootenay Lake Archives began.
The project was funded by British Columbia Digital Collections (BCDC).
As a result, over 80% of the Archives' photographic collection is
now accessible and searchable through an in-house database. Integration
of other elements of the collection into the database are also being
planned, including specific archival records, book indices and audio
transcripts.
Since the project funding ended in September
2003, almost 800 additional images have been added to the digital
collection.
