The Kootenay Lake Historical Society is currently looking to fill an important position at the SS Moyie that is a Managerial role for our busy society and seasonal Visitor Centre.

Highlights of Qualifications Required:

  • Well-developed organizational skills and leadership
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Knowledge & competence in digital workspaces (including Social Media Platforms, CMS, and Marketing Software)
  • Experience in Policy and Procedure for Non-profit Organizations including an understanding of working in a regulated environment
  • Familiarity with Non-profit Strategic Planning 
  • Financial acumen, knowledge of budgets and spreadsheets
  • Ability to submit grant applications
  • Required to attend monthly board meetings
  • Strong managerial experience
  • Team player and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of local history and knowledge of the area and amenities 
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal
  • Available full-time
  • Competent with digital payment gateway (Square), and other digital work systems – such as email, spreadsheets, social media, etc.
  • Enjoys working in a public setting
  • Familiarity with Destination BC is a definite asset
  • Ability to understand the importance of the local First Nations and the role they play in our history

Tourism Ambassadors

Highlights of Qualifications Required:
  • Returning Student – Between 16 – 30 years old
  • Customer service experience
    • Team player with leadership skills
    • Interest in local history
    • Knowledge of the area and amenities 
    • Good communication skills, written and verbal
    • Available full-time – Seasonal
    • Enjoys working in a public setting
    • Quick learner of new work systems and requirements

      Site Supervisor/Interpreter

      Highlights of Qualifications Required:
      • Team player and leadership skills
      • Knowledge of local history and local physical geography
      • Knowledge of the area and amenities
      • Enjoys working with the public
      • Good communication skills, written and verbal
      • Assist in the research and development of potential educational displays based on the Society’s existing archival material and upcoming funding opportunities
      • Available full-time (seasonal)
      • Competent with digital payment gateway (Square), and other digital work systems – such as email, spreadsheets, social media, etc.
      • Willingness to learn
      • Interpretation of what is happening on the ship
