PART-TIME MAINTENANCE JOB DESCRIPTION

The Seasonal Part-Time Maintenance Worker is a reliable and diligent individual. They are responsible for ongoing maintenance and upkeep of the Moyie, grounds/buildings, and Visitors Centre.

This maintenance position, adhering to the historical restoration requirements, plays a crucial role in ensuring the upkeep, cleanliness, and safety of the SS Moyie National Historic Site during its operating season from May to October. The maintenance worker will be required to support the Visitor Centre staff and will report directly to the Administrative & Visitor Centre Manager and KLHS Board or a designate. An additional responsibility might be to receive “first-level” alarm calls from the Alarm Company who is monitoring the site after hours. This includes when the site is closed, after hours, and during the off-season. 

Highlights of Qualifications Required:
  • Previous experience and competency in maintenance (carpentry/mechanical skills), landscaping, or a related field is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying maintenance issues.
  • Physical stamina and ability to perform tasks that may require lifting, bending, and prolonged standing.
  • Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.
  • Knowledge of basic hand and power tools is desirable
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to obtain a Level 3 First Aid attendant certification. (Employer Spoused)
  • Understanding or willingness to learn about historic values, responsibilities, and requirements of a National Historic Site
